RN4871 Click: New LE Bluetooth 4.2 Click Module By Mikroelektronika
Today’s topic is related to All-New Mikroelektronika’s Click PCB module, using well-known Microchip RM4871 BLE V4.2 Hybrid Chip.
Right now, we both are going to change for a while our focus to the pure hardware.
Let’s see: RN4871 click – New Low Energy Bluetooth V4.2 click mikroBUS line Module By Mikroelektronika.
The newest Mikroe’s RN4871 Click BLE Module is integrating the Microchip’s RN4871 – Bluetooth® 4.2 low-energy BLE module. The Built in Microchip’s module has 16-pins, very small footprint – 9mm x 11.5mm, and built-in ceramic antenna.
The click is designed following the mikroBUS™ line pins. It running at the 3.3VDC power supply. Two SMT LEDs are indicating The Power health and the System Status.

Command Interface:
RN4871 click uses ASCII Command Interface over UART. The communication with target microcontroller has done by 5 pins – four of them communication pins – RX, TX, CS and INT From MikroBUS Lines. These two Additional Pins are used as is following:
- CS is RTS – UART_RTS {Ready To Send},
- INT is CTS – UART_CTS {Clear To Send}.
Both pins are used for making reliable data transfer supporting asynchronous hardware handshake.
Next pins are as following:
3V3, GND, and RST.
The Power is applying through 3V3 and GND Pins. The “RST” is Module Reset Pin.
