  It integrates and is mainly based on the popular u-Blox LEA-6 series: LEA 6S module.

  Before we continue, let’s bring You a small part of the theory related the GPS System.
  
  We will try to answer and get а reasonable explanation the questions:

  How Does the GPS device is Working?
  Does or what these devices are sending to, and receiving from the Satellites?
   GPS – Global Positioning System or the military used the term is: “NAVSTAR GPS“  – Unveiling the Abbreviating:  „Navigation Signal Timing and Ranging Global Positioning System“.
 
   Now, it’s time the myth about the too sophisticated communication with the satellites and its mystery need to be uncovered
  Actually, there isn’t any mystery.
  The GPS trackers simply are receiving devices, with ultra selective inputs and simultaneously working on multiple channels.
  They don’t send any kind of RF DATA or packets to the satellites!
   As we already said, the GPS trackers are only receiving devices.
  Their principle of work is using simple mathematical rules and calculations to create a representation of exactly their coordinates on the earth or in the air.
  Their software API is using the method of triangulation.

   To Do this task, we need some external help. These are the satellites. We need many of them.

  Total count of satellites is minimum 24, available now in 6 different orbits. Their count is calculated and it is enough to cover all useful area of the earth, providing the minimal set of satellites in orbit, named: the “geostationary” orbit, blasting with an amazing 7000mi/h or 11265 km per hour.

  The speed is exactly the necessary speed to avoid the earth gravity, using the principle of the center moving forces.

  Both all satellites are synchronized and are pico-seconds equal with their own atomic watches. In every second the satellites transceivers are transmitting a 50-Watt RF signal broadcast. The data transmitted, consists a valuable information: Identification of the Satelite, nanosecond precissionTime stamp marker, Status information date, UTC – Coordinated Universal Time, and current Satelite position data – where the satellite should be at the transmission time.

  Your GPS module microcontroller is synchronizing its middle precision with the atomic highest precision clock. Receiving the time of next satellite transmission, compared with the moment of it’s receiving, the GPS Module software extracts the delay of the received signal.

  Using the light propagation speed, and adding some atmospheric distortion parameters, the intelligent GPS MCU API system with ease calculates, using the currently received data, the distance between the satellite S1 for example to us, our vehicle or our plane.

  But, the distance to one satellite creates a sphere without enough information about exact coordinates of the object. we need a total of minimum 3 satellites to get the true triangulation giving the latitude and longitude, and if we need and the altitude, the count of minimum visible satellites at everyone tracking moment is 4. The practice is pointing many more than 4 available satellites.

  Now we can overlap the four virtual distance spheres – from S1..S4 satellites. The zone of overlapping the distance spheres is getting to us within a +/- 5-meter precision, our GPS coordinates. If we are moving, we collect two different pairs of coordinates, and for an etalon part of the time, with simple math calculations, we also have our speed. Now You

  It Is good to say a few words about the GPS transmitted data packets.

  There are many GPS Standards

  There are many spheres of usage.

  The developers of the GPS system program started in 1978, are using the encoded messages, called Sentences.

  The Sentences related the NMEA definitions are:

   These sentences have specific information related to a preferred form of location information.

  In fact, if your GPS module is an NMEA 2.0 compatible,  then you will have a reach support and selection of the most common used sentences.
